Kayla's 16th Birthday

Hey everyone! 

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to my niece who is officially 16 years old now. (Lord help us all lol) We celebrated her birthday by going to Red Lobster and giving her a few gifts.

Valentine Treats #1-Oreo Truffles

Oreo Truffles have to be one of the simplest desserts you can make. It's perfect for Valentines Day but warning, they are extremely sweet. 


Here's what you'll need:
-1 pack of double stuffed Oreos
-1 pack of cream cheese (softened)
-Candy melts (any color) or chocolate
-Sprinkles (any color)
-A food processor 
-A baking sheet
-Wax paper

Kale Salad

A lot of people are turned off by kale as soon as they see it. I don't know why, it really is tasty once you jazz it up a bit. Kale is high in vitamins K, A, and C. It is a good source of iron and full of antioxidants. 

In order to enjoy kale as a salad, you really should massage it before you eat me. Massage it for a few minutes until it reduces in size. Kale is naturally tough but once you massage it, it becomes nice and soft. You can use olive oil, salt, and pepper, or your dressing of choice.
Here's the kale salad that I've been making lately: 
-Massaged kale w/ olive oil, salt, and pepper (to taste)
-Chopped onions
-Carrot shavings 
-Sweetened almond shavings 
-Cranberries 
This combination is so delicious that there is no need for any salad dressing.

Superbowl Snack Idea #3:

Here's a simple dip recipe that is perfect for a super bowl party. 




3 packs of bacon (or more) 
4 bundles of green onions 
(2) 24 oz tubs of sour cream
6 cups (or more) of cheddar cheese
1 cup of bacon bits 
Pepper and Paprika to taste
Plain Lays Chips or Crackers (I prefer chips)

Mix in a large bowl the sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, pepper, and paprika. Then place in the refrigerator. 
Fry and drain bacon. Once it cools, chop it as fine as you can. 
On your platter of choice, mold the sour cream mixture into the shape of a football. 
Cover it with all of the bacon.
I used some left over dip to pipe football lines on top of the dip. 
Place green onions around the football to act as the grass. 
Grab your chips or crackers and dip baby dip!
