Fantastic Food Friday: Spinach

Second post today! Oh snap I'm on a roll!
I'm starting this new series on my blog titled Fantastic Food Friday. Every other Friday I'll have a food where I list some of the health and beauty benefits of eating it and then share a recipe. Today I will be talking about Spinach. I love spinach. I put it in everything; eggs, smoothies, salad, sandwiches, etc. I just knew it had to be my first F3 topic.

Spinach contains:
Vitamins A, C, E, K, B12, B6
Calcium
Iron
Potassium
Fiber
Omega 3 Fats
Magnesium
Zinc
and the list goes on...

Health Benefits
Has antioxidants that help fight against high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and atherosclerosis.

Spinach helps improve brain function.
Spinach contains Kaempferol which can help prevent cancers.
It can help prevent heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and kidney stones.
Spinach can help a person maintain their strength.

Beauty Benefits
Spinach is great for clearing up acne and eczema.
It can help prevent wrinkles.
Spinach also helps slow down the aging process.

Recipe
My recipe for today is Spinach chips! I love kale chips and I figured if I can make kale chips I can make spinach chips. I tried it out today and sure enough... I can! I'm definitely going to be making spinach chips a lot. This is great for anyone on a diet or someone who just wants to eat healthier. It's way better for you than regular potato chips, that's for sure.

You pretty much make spinach chips the way you would kale chips. Preheat the oven to 350, wash the spinach, drizzle a little olive oil on them and put them on a cookie sheet. Put in the oven for 10 minutes and that's it. They should look something like this...
Why eat regular potato chips when you can have spinach chips and kale chips?! You get the same crunchiness, you can season them with a little salt and/or pepper (that's what my family and I like to do). You could even try different seasonings and have different flavors! Now that would be good!
If you don't like spinach still give this a try. It's a great snack and a good way to get all of your nutrients.
I tried to get a picture of Kayla eating them but she ate them so fast I didn't get a chance to!

*Quick Tip* Make sure to eat your spinach quick! Apparently after 8 or 9 days Spinach loses all of its nutritional value.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed. Follow this blog via bloglovin for more Fantastic Food Fridays!
