(Birth Name: Jack Roosevelt Robinson)


 
1. He was born January 31, 1919 in Cairo Georgia.
 
2. J. Robinson was the youngest of five children.
 
3. Became the first African American to play in a major baseball league.
 
4. Won National League Rookie of the Year award his first season. (1947)
 
5. Went to the World Series six times.
 
 6. In 1952, he launched his own men's apparel store in New York.
 

7. He became the nation's first black baseball announcer in 1965.
 
8. Robinson was an activist for equal rights and campaigned with Martin Luther King Jr .
 
9. Joined the board of the NAACP in 1957.
 
10. Died October 24, 1972 (heart attack).
