My New Year's Resolutions

I can not believe this year is almost over. Wow, it seems like the years go by faster and faster. Where does the time go? One thing I do like about this time of year is that I can sit back and reflect. I love making new year's resolutions, I do it every year. I always feel like a new person by January 1st. It's the start of a new year and new beginnings.

Today, I will be sharing 5 of my new year's resolutions. I have managed to accomplish a lot of my previous resolutions so hopefully I can do the same this new year.

Homemade Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

Today was the perfect day for some hot cocoa. It was only 49 degrees and raining. By using the crock pot you can have hot chocolate all day long without remaking it. Plus homemade hot chocolate is way better than the packaged ones. Here's the recipe that I used today. It's very rich but if you're going to drink hot chocolate you might as well go all out.

6 Cups of Milk
1 1/2 Cups of Heavy Cream
12 oz can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 cups of Milk Chocolate
1/8 tsp of Vanilla Extract
1/4 tsp of Salt

Starting A New Tradition

My niece Kayla and I have started our own tradition a few years ago. We have to make hot chocolate, popcorn, and watch the Polar Express at least once during the holiday season. Since I have a small tradition with her, I wanted to start one with my nephew Jacob. There's no tradition better than 'the elf on the shelf'. When you order 'the elf of the shelf' you will receive a book and an elf. The book explains everything your family needs to know about the elf. To sum it up for you, the elf is watching the children to see if they're being naughty or nice. Each night the elf will fly back to the North Pole to tell Santa how the children have been for the day. Then the elf will fly back to your house by the next day but will be in a different spot. Your job is to find him and who knows... he might come back with gifts, treats, or a message. Oh and by the way, you have to name your elf. I let Jacob name him. Also, you cannot touch him or he will lose his magic.  I will keep you all posted on how Jacob likes his elf. I think this will end up being a great tradition. I purchased this kit from Amazon but you can literally find it in any store. Michaels, Walmart, etc.

Don't worry, he didn't touch him!

Meet Julius.

What's your favorite holiday tradition?
