Today, I am going to share my most embarrassing moment. I tend to get embarrassed pretty easily, so this is just one of many embarrassing moments for me.
I get embarrassed over the smallest things... and don't even get me started on second-hand embarrassment! If something embarrassing (or awkward) happens to someone else, I am embarrassed for them (whether they are embarrassed or not)!!! For me, second-hand embarrassment is TOO REAL!
So let me tell you about my most embarrassing moment. It all started when I was a newbie on campus. It was only my first week at Virginia State University. Literally, I think this situation happened either my first or second day there. I was looking SO FAB, because... come on! The first week at any school is your time to shine. You gotta pull out your best shoes, that new outfit you picked out, and have your hair laid and slayed....
One of the best things about college is that you can basically wear whatever you want to wear. On that day, I wore a thin-strapped tan tank-top with very long (rayon-spandex) bell-bottoms and wedges. Even with wedges on, the pants were still a little long but I wasn't worried because I was lookin' good! I should have been worried because I am VERY clumsy. I'm so clumsy that will literally trip going UP the stairs. (Um, What?!)
All throughout college I had morning classes meaning classes would start at eight and end around noon. At this particular school, no one was around before noon unless they had early morning classes as well. The campus always comes alive around 11:30am. And noon is like the official prime time of the school. Everyone and their mamas will be on campus by then. Anytime before and it's a ghost town.
So I'm steppin' and looking cute, on my way to class at eight in the morning. Of course, no one sees me because, well, it's eight in the morning. After my final class, I head for my car. By now, it's noon and everyone is outside. It was my time to shine y'all. I am a pretty big introvert but being at this new school was my chance to step out of my comfort zone and show these people what I was working with. I was going to show these people how cool and confident I was. All the girls would want to be my friend and shoot, maybe a cute guy would approach me too.
So as I'm heading to my car, I decide to change up my walk. I started putting a little pep in my step and I was switchin' yall! I was working it on that sidewalk like I was on a runway. Before I could make it halfway to my car, I tripped over my own pants!!! That was the first time in my life that I was able to do the Michael Jackson anti-gravity lean. My whole body went forward then all of a sudden my body jerked back so I didn't actually fall on my face, thank goodness. I was so shame!!! An older guy asked me if I was okay, a few girls giggled at me, and the rest of the crowd just looked in shock. There had to have been a solid 20 people who just witnessed me trip and ALMOST fall flat on my face. After that, I said, forget switchin' and I rushed to my car.
"They" say you take moments like this and laugh at them later... yeah, it's been a good six years and I'm still not laughing. smh.
Needless to say, I wore nothing but sweatpants (that stopped at my ankles) and Uggs for the rest of my time there. (Of course I'm exaggerating a little but not really.) I did wear Uggs most of the time after that.
There you have it, my most embarrassing story. Now that I have shared my story it is only right that you share your most embarrassing story in the comments below. Also, let me know if you guys experience second-hand embarrassment or if it's just me. I can't wait to hear from you all.
